Replenish collection of the Museum of 20th Century Fashion History!
The Museum of 20th Century Fashion History exists in RBIM since 2005. More than 70 donators have brought the things belonged to their mothers and grandmothers. There are more than 700 exhibit items in the museum collection, including vintage things of XIX-XX centuries.
The idea of establishing a first in Russia museum of 20th century fashion history in RBIM was presented by the world-known fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev.
Museum collection includes men, women and children’s clothes. These are outer garments, light clothing, headdresses, footwear, purses and other accessories. Bonnets of 20s, lisle stockings of 30s, fronts and chemisettes of 40s, blouses with Chinese symbols of 50s, string bags and gloves of 60s, sports suit and crimplene dresses of 70s, jackets with broad shoulders of 80s, denim skirts of 90s. Here you can see an ensemble belonged to the famous ballet-dancer Galina Ulanova, a dress made of chiffon and panne velvet, leather raincoat of NKVD member, and festive handcrafted evening wrap of the end of XIX century.
You can become a museum donator as well, if you have any of vintage things: dresses, outer garments, headdresses, footwear, handbags, accessories, adornments, interior items (mirrors, jewel-boxes). Write your name in fashion history!
